Jesus, Who?
Postil exists because of one historical claim: Jesus Christ—a Jewish carpenter's son who lived and died in first-century Judea under Roman rule—was God in human flesh, and He rose from the dead three days later.
Everything we do here is downstream of that truth. If it's false, Postil is a waste of a good icon and hefty server bills. If it's true, it's the only thing in the universe actually worth building an app around.
Who He Is
Jesus of Nazareth wasn't just a wise teacher whose legend was exaggerated by overzealous followers. He plainly and repeatedly claimed to be God (John 8:58, John 10:30). He forgave sins—an act the religious leaders of His day rightly recognized as something only God can do (Mark 2:5-7). He accepted worship, and He declared that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).
C.S. Lewis put the choice bluntly: a man who says the things Jesus said cannot simply be deemed a "great moral teacher." He is either a liar, a lunatic, or exactly who He claimed to be—Lord.
The historical case backs this up. Jesus was a real person, crucified under Pontius Pilate via a Roman execution method designed to be inescapable. Yet, His tomb was found empty. His followers—men who scattered in terror the night He was arrested—were transformed within weeks. They became a people willing to face beatings, imprisonment, and death rather than deny they had seen Him alive. People don't die for what they know is a lie.
Why He Had to Come
Scripture claims that every person—not some, all—falls short of God's standard (Romans 3:23). We don't just "make mistakes"; we fall short of a holy God. That failure has a name: sin. And sin has a devastating consequence: separation from God, now and forever (Romans 6:23).
God couldn't just wave this away on a technicality. Because He is just, He doesn't pretend wrong isn't wrong. But because He is love, He didn't leave us to face that separation alone.
Instead, He did something no other religion claims its god ever did: He stepped down and took the penalty Himself. Jesus lived the perfect life we couldn't live, and died the death we deserved, in our place (Romans 5:8, 2 Corinthians 5:21). Three days later, He walked out of the grave—undeniable proof that the payment was accepted, and that death itself had been beaten (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
The Whole Point of Postil
Postil isn't a "faith and lifestyle" app in the way that phrase usually gets used—we aren't just a self-help category with a cross sticker slapped on it. We exist to put sound teaching, real Scripture, and a genuine community of believers in one place. The mission is simple: help people actually meet Jesus, and help those who already know Him go deeper.
Every sermon clip, every article, every verse cross-reference, and every comment thread serves that singular goal. If someone opens this app, scrolls the feed, reads a devotional, and closes it without being pointed toward Christ, we've failed—regardless of how polished our UI is. The Bible reader, the curated creators... none of it is the point. It's all just scaffolding around the point.
We built this because the internet is loud, most of what's loud isn't true, and somewhere in the noise, a lot of people are quietly asking the question at the top of this page.
How to Be Saved
It is not complicated, and it is not something you can earn.
Scripture is incredibly direct about it: "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." (Romans 10:9-10)
It's not about being "good enough"—nobody is (Ephesians 2:8-9). It's not about joining a specific denomination or performing a ritual. It's about turning to Christ: admitting you need Him, believing He died and rose specifically for you, and giving Him your life.
If you want to make that decision right now, there are no magic words, but an honest prayer like this is a great place to start:
"Jesus, I know I've fallen short and I can't fix that myself. I believe You died for my sin and rose from the dead. I'm turning to You now—forgive me, save me, and be Lord of my life. Thank You for loving me enough to do this. Amen."
