God's Call Creates Life
Therefore prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ—
Peter writes to people who have already been born again, yet he still calls them to action. This is a pattern worth noticing: God's grace does not make effort unnecessary, it makes effort possible. Because something real has already happened to us, we are now told to prepare our minds, to be sober, and to fix our hope on what is still to come.
Notice where the hope is placed. It is not set on circumstances improving or on our own steadiness of heart, but fully on the grace that will be brought to us when Jesus Christ is revealed. That is a future-facing hope, anchored outside ourselves. The call to be sober-minded and alert makes sense only because something greater than the present moment is coming toward us.

He explains how God's call is not merely an invitation but something that actually creates new birth, worked out through Christ's ransom, his resurrection, and the inward, effective call of the Spirit.
