Rooted
As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, walk in him,
Paul reminds the Colossians that receiving Christ was just the beginning. The Christian life doesn't stop at a moment of belief - it continues in a daily walk, a steady rhythm of living out what was received. There is a difference between accepting something as true and actually building your life upon it.
Many believers can point to a specific moment when they first recognized Jesus as Savior. That's a meaningful starting point, but it's not the whole journey. Knowing Him as Savior answers the question of what He has done for us. Recognizing Him as Lord shifts the focus to what our response should be - submission, trust, and a willingness to let Him direct our steps rather than simply asking Him to rescue us.
This is where the idea of being rooted becomes so important. A plant with shallow roots might sprout quickly, but it won't withstand a storm. Faith works the same way. If our relationship with Jesus never grows past the initial decision to believe, we remain vulnerable when life gets difficult. Walking in Him, as Paul describes, means letting that early acceptance deepen into daily dependence.
This isn't about earning something or achieving spiritual perfection. It's about continuing the way we started - by receiving, trusting, and now walking forward in that same posture of faith, day by day, allowing His lordship to shape ordinary life and not just a single decision made long ago.
