Welcome to Postil. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Postil mobile application, the website located at postil.app, and all associated services and features (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Joshua Seevers, a sole proprietor ("I," "me," "my," or "Postil").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access, install, or use the Service. Continued use of the Service following any amendment to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.
Postil is a mobile app that aggregates and organizes Christian media content — articles, podcasts, videos, and news — from RSS feeds and other publicly available sources, and layers on Bible reading, verse cross-referencing, and community features like comments and saved items.
The Service uses AI (via a third-party language model API) to generate summaries, topic/category tags, and biblical verse cross-references for aggregated content. The Service is offered on a free, ad-supported tier and an optional "Postil Pro" paid subscription tier that removes ads from the main content feed and Bible verse content cards.
Material Disclaimer: Postil functions as a content aggregator and does not create, author, edit, verify, license, or endorse the underlying third-party material it displays. The Service does not constitute journalistic reporting, professional opinion, medical advice, legal counsel, financial guidance, or spiritual/theological instruction.
You must be at least thirteen (13) years of age to use the Service. Postil requires you to confirm this via a checkbox during account creation (no date of birth is collected) and will not create or activate an account without it — this is enforced automatically, and any account found to belong to someone under 13 will be deleted, along with all associated data.
You can create an account with an email address and password, or by signing in with Apple or Google. You agree to provide accurate information, not impersonate another person, and not create multiple accounts to evade enforcement action.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Contact support@postil.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
I may suspend or terminate an account for violating these Terms, submitting content that violates Section 6.2 below, abusing the reporting system, or fraudulent/illegal activity. Where practical, I'll try to give notice before termination; for severe violations (e.g. illegal content, harassment, security abuse) an account may be terminated immediately without prior notice.
You may permanently delete your account at any time from Settings by typing "DELETE" to confirm. This is immediate and irreversible — there is no grace period or deactivation window. Deletion removes your profile, comments, saved/upcrossed items, and other account data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Postil Pro is an optional paid subscription that removes ads from the main content feed and Bible verse content cards. It does not remove ads shown within video, podcast, news, or article content, which are served through a separate embedded ad path unrelated to this subscription.
Subscriptions are purchased, billed, and managed entirely through the Apple App Store (via in-app purchase), not by me directly. Your payment method is charged by Apple according to the plan you select, and subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. I never receive or store your payment card details.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time via your Apple ID account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on iOS). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's own refund policies — I have no ability to issue refunds directly, and requests should go through Apple ("Report a Problem" at reportaproblem.apple.com).
Pricing for Postil Pro may change over time; any change is reflected in the App Store listing and applies going forward, not retroactively to an already-active billing period, consistent with Apple's subscription billing rules.
Postil is a neutral aggregator. All underlying content is owned and authored by its respective third-party publishers. I do not create, author, edit, or pre-moderate that content. A piece of content appearing in Postil does not mean I endorse or vouch for it.
I disclaim responsibility for the factual accuracy, legality, or completeness of aggregated third-party content, and for the accuracy of AI-generated summaries or tags describing that content (see Section 5). I am not obligated to verify publisher identity or copyright ownership before displaying content, though I will act on valid takedown requests (Section 7).
The Service uses YouTube's publicly available RSS/data mechanisms to surface video content, and may embed YouTube video playback. By using the Service to access YouTube content, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service (youtube.com/t/terms) and Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
The Service contains hyperlinks to, and in-app browser views of, external websites and articles. I exercise no editorial control over external sites and disclaim liability for their privacy practices, security, or content. Visiting linked content is at your own risk.
If you are the publisher or copyright holder of aggregated content and want it removed from Postil, email admin@postil.app with your RSS feed URL(s) and proof of ownership. I will review verified requests and remove the content from active display within a reasonable time.
Postil uses a third-party AI language model (via API) to generate short summaries of aggregated content, assign topic/category tags, identify referenced Bible verses for cross-referencing, and estimate read/listen time. It is also used to screen display names and comments for profanity before they're saved.
AI-generated summaries, tags, and verse cross-references are not reviewed by a person before display and can be wrong — factually inaccurate, mischaracterizing the source, or theologically off. I disclaim liability for inaccuracies in AI-generated text, incorrect verse associations, and any decisions made in reliance on AI-generated content. Don't treat AI summaries as a substitute for reading the actual source or Scripture itself.
You retain ownership of content you post (comments, etc.) ("UGC"). By posting UGC, you grant me a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and distribute it within the Service for as long as it remains posted, and to retain copies as needed for legal compliance or dispute resolution after removal.
You agree not to post content that is defamatory or knowingly false; harassing, threatening, or intimidating; hate speech targeting a protected characteristic; sexually explicit or exploitative, including any content involving minors; graphic violence or content that incites violence or self-harm; spam or unauthorized commercial solicitation; or infringing on someone else's intellectual property.
Every comment and piece of content can be reported directly in-app with a reason. You can also block another user, which immediately hides all of their current and future comments from your view. Reports are reviewed and actioned (dismissed or the content/account addressed) by me. Comments and display names are also automatically screened for profanity before they're allowed to post. Repeated or severe violations may result in content removal and/or account suspension or termination under Section 2.4.
If you believe content displayed on Postil infringes your copyright, send a notice to admin@postil.app including: (1) your signature (physical or electronic); (2) identification of the copyrighted work; (3) the specific URL or location of the allegedly infringing material within Postil; (4) your name, address, and contact information; (5) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized; and (6) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.
If content you posted or that concerns you is removed in response to a copyright notice and you believe the removal was erroneous, you may send a counter-notice to admin@postil.app with your contact information, identification of the removed content, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the removal was a mistake.
Accounts that are the subject of repeated, verified copyright notices may be terminated.
Excluding third-party content and UGC, the Postil app, its source code, design, branding, and the postil.app domain are my property. You're granted a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the app or its underlying code, or scrape/automate access to the Service.
Feedback or suggestions you send me about the Service are non-confidential, and I may use them to improve Postil without any obligation or compensation to you.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. I don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that aggregated content or AI-generated summaries will be accurate or current. The Service is not a substitute for professional advice of any kind.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service. My total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid me for Postil Pro in the twelve months before the claim arose.
If you have a dispute with me about the Service, please email admin@postil.app first and describe it — I'll try to resolve it directly. If it can't be resolved informally, any legal dispute will be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and litigated (or arbitrated, if both parties agree) in Pennsylvania.
I may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last Updated" date; where practical I'll also try to notify active users in-app. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Postil is currently available on Apple iOS via the App Store. Your use of the Service on iOS is additionally subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
Postil is not directed to children under 13 — see Section 2.1. Your use is also governed by the separate Privacy Policy at postil.app/privacy, which describes GDPR (EU/EEA/UK) and CCPA (California) rights where applicable.
